CREDENTIALS
Lia’s practice focuses on criminal defense and personal injury. Following college graduation Lia worked for a few years as a paralegal for a large Manhattan law firm. She then decided to pursue her interest in ancient history and languages. Lia enrolled at Duke University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, graduating with a Masters Degree in Classical Studies in 1991. In 1992, Lia moved to Denver. She began law school at the University of Denver College of Law. While at the University of Denver, Lia interned at the Children’s Legal Clinic and the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender. She was Senior Editor of the Denver University Law Review, and published an article entitled “Adarand Constructors, Inc. v. Pena: Raising the Level of Scrutiny for Federal Affirmative Action”. After law school, Lia began working at Gerash, Miranda & Gerash, first as a law clerk, then as an associate attorney. While at Gerash Lia was involved in various complex, high-profile criminal and civil cases, and several successful appeals, including People v. Bieg, People v. Newton, and Curtis v. Counce. Lia has also worked for firms specializing in insurance defense and personal injury.
